about
So many times in life I've had this feeling like I'm not where I should be - like I need to make a change, to escape what is, as if I've made a mistake and I should be better, or further ahead than I am.
I know this feeling so well - and one day shortly after arriving in Coimbra, Portugal, sitting in this place and feeling this feeling deeply, this beautiful song flowed out of me in a one take improvisation. It's still today (May 21 2021) one of the favorite pieces I have written and still a favorite to perform.
lyrics
It's days like these I feel I cannot grab a hold of anything I want to
Time keeps moving time keeps dragging on
I don't want to sing it out
I've got nothing to sing about
The words are wrong the timing is all mistaken
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I cannot tell you
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I would like to tell you
See it's normal for me to put all this pressure
Into feeling so good and got to keep it moving forward in space
Keep all direction
But I don't feel it today
I need some space to rest my bones
And I need some space to sit alone
And I need some space to reflect upon all I'm seeing in me today
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I cannot tell you
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I would like to tell you
It's normal for me to put all this pressure
Into feeling so good and I got to keep it moving
Forward in space keep all direction
But I don't feel it today
I need some space to go alone
And I need a room, I miss my home
And I need a place to reside just for a little while
Get away from it all
Jut sit in silence
Contemplating all I'm creating
I got to move
I got to move on
Move my body
To release this energy
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I cannot tell you
Where am I going
Where am I going to
I dunno
I cannot tell you
